  Conscientization report INTRODUCTION The concept of Conscientization is linked with the work of ‘Paulo Friere’ and especially his ‘pedagogy of the oppressed’. The definition given by Paulo Freire in his ‘cultured action for freedom’ is that , Conscientization refers to the process in which men are not mere recipients  but as learning subjects achieve a deepening awareness both of the socio cultural reality which shapes their lives and of their capacity to transform that reality. Conscientization means to give conscious awareness to people on certain issues that need urgent improvement. The objective of Conscientization is to power the knowledge by facilitating a learning process that would develop critical awareness. It also aims at developing a critical awareness that individuals can take action against the oppressive elements of reality. Conscientization is needed in the social life of the people.
