INTRODUCTION

The concept of Internship of the B. Ed Course is throughout the country is quite challenging one for all the teacher education institutions in this pandemic situation. The aim of the internship program is to incorporate teaching skills among the student teachers. The Internship program is an effective way to give training to the student-teachers about the real world of work. It gives them an opportunity to integrate theory and practice, plan and deliver lessons properly, critically analyse their own and peers teaching styles and improve them in the light of feedback given by supervisors. Through this program they understand the role and responsibilities of professional teachers. Internship program also gives them the opportunity to understand different aspects of school program and improve their skills and abilities in teaching profession. An effective and improved internship program is required in developing student-teachers personalities as true professionals in the field of education.

Through internship program intern acquire more knowledge of teaching and learn or sharpen the needed skills, attitudes and values associated with efficient performance of their job. Internship helps to modify Knowledge and skills i.e. what student knows, how they will work. The internship program  provides an opportunity for the prospective teachers to link the educational theory and pedagogical concepts with their practice on the one hand, and on the other to test the validity of theoretical propositions actual school settings.

As part of the B.Ed. curriculum, our first phase teaching practice started on 16/11/2020. Due to the prevailing conditions teaching practice was divided into peer to peer teaching, face to face teaching, victers channel class observation and e –content preparation. First we faced difficulties to adjust with the online teaching. But day by day we became more adapted with online teaching.

PEER TO PEER TEACHING

Peer to peer teaching has students take on a teaching role in a school setting in order to share their knowledge with other students.“Peer teaching can enhance learning by enabling learners to take responsibility for reviewing, organizing, and consolidating existing knowledge and material; understanding its basic structure; filling in the gaps; finding additional meanings; and reformulating knowledge into new conceptual frameworks’ (Dueck, 1993).”

Our peer teaching class were began on 16/11/2020 and wind up on 20/11/2020. My first online class was that. That was really a wonderful experience to me. In my peer teaching I covered 10 lesson transcripts. Topics covered includes Joint Hindu family business and its features, accounting information and its users, cooperative society, need for pollution control, itinerant traders and its features, departmental stores and its merits, advantages of multiple shops, organising and its importance, business risk and its causes. My friends supported me a lot in the successful completion of the peer teaching. Optional teacher and general teacher visited to watch our class and gave adequate feedback for us. These feedbacks helped me to improve a lot in my way of teaching.

FACE TO FACE TEACHING

The second week of teaching practice was really an unforgettable one. It was a pleasant experience with my students and received their love and affection. Face to face teaching started on 25/11/2020 and ended on 30/11/2020. Students' interest for the class were itself a right motivation for myself more to prepare effectively for the class. Students are very responsive and they cleared doubts adequately. I used a power-point presentation for my class.

In face to face teaching I covered 10 lesson transcripts. Topics covered include sole proprietorship, its features merits and demerits; Joint Hindu family business, its features, merits and demerits; partnership business, its features, merits and demerits, and types of partners.

On 30/11/2020 we arranged a conscientization program on the topic 'suicidal tendencies and its awareness '. Students shown curiosity in hearing the topic. And they actively participated in the whole class.

On that day I did the diagnostic test its remedial teaching and achievement test.As this was the last day I collected feedback on my class from the students.

VICTERS CHANNEL CLASS OBSERVATION

VICTERS (Versatile ICT Enabled Resource for Students) is an edutainment channel in Malayalam language operated by KITE under the Department of General and Higher Education (Kerala) and is wholly owned by the Government of Kerala. The channel is headquartered in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.

E CONTENT

I prepared 5 e content classes using the X recorder with each 15 minutes duration and uploaded it on YouTube. On the basis of that e content lesson plans were prepared. Topics I selected for e-content preparation includes leadership and qualities to become a good leader, communication process and its importance, commercial banks and its functions, controlling importance and its steps and joint stock company and its features.

CONCLUSION

I have completed my 40 lesson transcripts, diagnostic test, innovative work, and achievement test and conscientization program. Our teachers given valuable instructions to us and this has boosted our confidence level. Our principal and optional teacher helped us a lot for the successful completion of the teaching practice.

As a teacher trainee, I am very happy to complete my teaching practice successfully. It was a valuable experience for my future life and teaching profession. I hope to become a good teacher.

I improved a lot by this teaching practice. I improved my speaking skills. I put a lot of effort in my communication skill. Students were most active while teaching with ICT. After diagnostic test I found some difficult section with students so I used remedial teaching for that.

The experience and lessons that I learned from this internship will definitely strengthen me in the process of becoming an effective teacher. Charts, pictures, flash cards and activity cards were used sufficiently
